MU hosts annual car bash
HUNTINGTON — For the 12th straight year, Marshall University radio station WMUL hosted the homecoming car bash Wednesday.
For $1, participants got two minutes to bash away at an old Ford Thunderbird painted in the colors of homecoming opponent UTSA with a sledgehammer.
The event was the kick off for homecoming weekend, which culminates at 2 p.m. Saturday when the Marshall Thundering Herd hosts the Roadrunners in football at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
There are a slew of events on tap in the next few days, including the 18th annual 5K Alum Run, which begins at 9 a.m. at Pullman Square, the homecoming parade beginning at 10 a.m., and a tailgate blast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the field next to the Harless Dining Hall.
A new Marco mascot costume will be revealed just before kick off.
