MU professor among finalists for 2012 award

HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University associate history professor Daniel Holbrook is among five finalists for the 2012 West Virginia Professor of the Year award.

The award is offered annually by the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia. The other finalists are Dr. Gregory Juckett, professor of family medicine and health service physician at West Virginia University; Gregory P. Noone, assistant professor of political science and law at Fairmont State University; Bryan Raudenbush, associate professor of psychology at Wheeling Jesuit University; and Kenneth H. Yount, political science and history professor at Alderson-Broaddus College.

Interviews with the five candidates will be conducted Jan. 24. The finalists will be honored at a reception in March and banquet in Charleston, where the 2012 Professor of the Year will be announced.

A $10,000 cash award is given to the award winner, with $2,500 given to the runner-up. Smaller awards will be given to the other finalists.

The Professor of the Year award is presented with financial support from United Bank.
