MCTC closes Wednesday due to water main break
HUNTINGTON -- A water main broke at Mountwest Community & Technical College Wednesday morning, prompting the college to close at 11 a.m. to address the situation.
Norman "Buckey" Walters, director of public safety at Mountwest, said it was an unforeseen break that occurred outside the main entrance of the building.
"Because of the cold air, it's freezing, and we thought it would be better safety to close the college -- plus we had to shut off the water," he said.
At that time, MCTC had plans to reopen Thursday morning as usual for faculty and staff, and for students who want to pre-register. Classes are not in session this week.
