Police Department to add 4 new officers

HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Police Department will add four new officers to its ranks Friday, Jan. 4.

The new officers are Brennan K. Simpkins of Huntington, Nicholas C. Wyrick of Huntington, Shane S. Wilburn of Salt Rock and Adam S. Ankrom of Huntington, according to a release from the department.

They will be sworn in at a ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday in City Council Chambers. Afterward, the officers will attend a 16-week basic police training course at the West Virginia State Police Academy in Institute, W.Va.

Huntington Police Capt. Hank Dial the new hires replace vacancies and retirements within the department.

The hires will take the Police Department to 105 sworn police officers and leave one vacant position in its budget, Dial said. That spot will be filled at a later date as part of a new recruitment campaign.
