Celebrating 100 years
Challen "Chick" Nikolaus
Purchase this photoBARBOURSVILLE -- The Huntington Mall hosted a 100th birthday celebration Wednesday for Challen "Chick" Nikolaus, who has been a mall walker for more than 20 years.
Nikolaus -- a retired sales representative from Mason Dixon Distributing of Bluefield Supply -- and his wife, Betty Nikolaus, have been married for more than 66 years and have one son, Larry. The Barboursville residents have participated in the mall walkers program since it started more than 20 years ago.
The mall has one entrance that opens at 8 a.m. daily for participants in the mall walkers program. Friends and fellow walkers from the Huntington Mall were out bright and early to join the Nikolauses for an 8 a.m. birthday celebration in the food court Wednesday.
