Ky. voters keep utilities tax for school district
CATLETTSBURG, Ky -- Voters in the Fairview school district voted to keep a 3 percent utilities tax in place during a special election Tuesday.
The question on the ballot was whether or not residents wanted to recall the tax, which was approved last year by the school board.
All six precincts in the school district were reporting Tuesday night that 508 voters were in favor of recalling the tax, and 546 voters were in favor of keeping it.
Four out of the six precincts turned down the recall, while the Hoods Creek and Millseat precincts voted in favor of it.
