Caregiver U. trains, educates on Alzheimer's
HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association are bringing Caregiver University, a one-day mini-conference, to Huntington on Tuesday, March 5, to provide training and education to family and professional caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Harless Auditorium on the Cabell Huntington Hospital campus. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $20 for a family caregiver or $35 for professional caregivers who can receive nursing CEU or social work CEU credits by attending.
Dr. Shirley Neitch, chief of geriatrics at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, will be the keynote speaker. Workshop topics will include legal and financial matters; understanding Medicaid, estate recovery and power of attorney; communication techniques; and exercise.
Lunch is included.
