Piedmont Road fire deemed suspicious
HUNTINGTON -- Authorities have labeled a Monday morning fire in Westmoreland as suspicious.
Cabell County 911 received word of the fire at 3:41 a.m. Monday in the 2900 block of Piedmont Road in Huntington's Westmoreland neighborhood.
No injuries were reported.
Huntington Fire Chief Carl Eastham described it as an unoccupied, two-story house with no active utilities.
The home's prior tenants recently were evicted, Eastham said.
The chief said investigators have no immediate evidence linking Monday's incident to other fires in the city. It remains under investigation.
