An employee at Macy's reported on March 7 that a 24-year-old Huntington woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $257 in women's accessories and cologne. That same day, an employee at the store reported a 29-year-old Huntington man attempted to leave the store without paying for $106 in Sean John apparel.

A background check of the man showed there was a warrant for his arrest for a domestic violence petition violation. He also was charged with shoplifting, first degree.

On March 8, an employee at the store reported a 21-year-old Charleston woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $818 in Polo apparel. Officers issued a citation to the woman, who was released from custody.

On Monday, an employee reported a 36-year-old Huntington woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $57.98 in T-shirts, which she concealed in a shopping bag. Officers issued a citation to the woman, who was released from custody.

Officers issued the Buffalo woman a citation for shoplifting, first offense. A background check of the Hurricane woman revealed a prior shoplifting conviction, and she was issued a citation for shoplifting, second offense. Both women were released from custody.

On March 9, an employee at the store reported a 29-year-old Huntington woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $411.39 in women's apparel and accessories.

The woman was taken into custody by police, and she was released following her arraignment in Cabell County Magistrate Court. The woman's 3-year-old son, who was with her at the time of the incident, was placed in the custody of a family member.

At J.C. Penney, an employee reported on March 10 that a 23-year-old Charleston man left the store without paying for two pairs of Levi's jeans worth a total of $80. When an employee attempted to stop him, the man ran out of the store.

Officers located the man inside a restaurant near the mall, and he was taken into custody. A background check revealed a warrant for his arrest in Kanawha County.

The man was released following his arraignment.
