Police blotter: Huntington police respond to shots fired Saturday on 4th Avenue

Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:

Police responded to shots fired in the 1300 block of 41/2 Avenue around 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Officers located and collected nine shell casings and one laser sight at the scene.

WANTON ENDANGERMENT: Tyrell Antraun Hughes, 22, of Huntington was charged with felony wanton endangerment on Saturday. Officers arrived to the 1600 block of Doulton Avenue about 11:20 p.m. Saturday after a call of shots fired. Police found a casing on the step of Hughes' residence. He told officers he fired his gun because he thought he heard someone outside his house.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT TO DELIVER: Eric F. Congleton, 33, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and fleeing/obstructing. Congleton was arrested in the 1100 block of Hal Greer Boulevard about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police confiscated a small bag of cocaine found in the area. A search of the suspect revealed $180 and marijuana.

FIRST DEGREE ROBBERY/WANTON ENDANGERMENT: More than $1,500 was taken from a man in the 1600 block of Doulton Avenue about 4:15 p.m. Friday. The victim said he was walking north on Hal Greer Boulevard near Doulton Avenue when the suspect came up to him and pulled a gun and advised him to walk east on Doulton Avenue, where a second suspect with a gun met them. The victim was ordered to empty his pockets, which he did. When the suspect reached for the items, the victim struck the man's hand and gun and ran. The suspect fired several shots at the victim, who kept running.

FIRST DEGREE ROBBERY/MALICIOUS ASSAULT: Terry James Cox, 25, of Huntington was arrested and charged with felony first degree robbery and malicious assault in the 300 block of Adams Avenue about 3:50 a.m. Sunday. He also was charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic battery failure to process. Cox was arrested after a victim on Washington Avenue reported a man beat him up and took his credit cards, cell phone and car keys. Police found Cox in possession of the victim's items.

GRAND LARCENY: Dress suits, jackets, shirts and suitcases totaling an estimated $2,330 were taken from a vehicle in the 1700 block of 7th Avenue between 4:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.

GRAND LARCENY: A bank bag containing $2,000 was stolen from Classic Billiards in the 1000 block of Washington Boulevard about 4 p.m. Saturday.

BURGLARY: Items estimated at more than $3,000 were stolen from the 4400 block of Auburn Road between 6 and 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Missing items include a Nintendo Wii and jewelry.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Kaitlyn Renee Collins, 22, of Huntington was charged Thursday as being a fugitive from justice from Ohio.

Reports from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office provided the following information:

A man and woman were at another man's residence in the 1500 block of Madison Creek Road when they held him down and struck him several times until he gave them $80.

LARCENY: A Nintendo DS, a firearm, chain saw and a DVD player totaling an estimated $1,225 were stolen from a residence on Maple Lane in Milton between 8 a.m. July 1 and 10 p.m. Oct. 29.

BURGLARY: More than $3,600 in cash was stolen from a woman's purse in the 5000 block of W.Va. 10 between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8:45 a.m. Sunday.

Booking records from the Western Regional Jail provided the following information:

Richard Lee Rose, 43, was incarcerated at 12:30 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony fleeing while driving under the influence, along with misdemeanor second-offense driving under the influence, obstruction and reckless driving. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Shannon Michael Mason, 24, was incarcerated about 12:25 p.m. Monday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with having a felony bench warrant.

Ridge Lee Huffman, 19, was incarcerated about 2 p.m. Monday. Authorities in Upshur County charged him with first-degree murder.
