ONA -- An Ona woman who has won the title of Miss West Virginia USA has added another distinction -- winning a sizable prize on the "Wheel of Fortune" television game show.

Jessi Pierson competed as part of "Teachers Week" on an episode of the show that aired on Monday, Oct. 22.

Pierson, a first-grade teacher at Salt Rock Elementary, won $14,590 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Antiqua.

"It is so rewarding, and I love going to work every single day," Pierson said in a news release.

Pierson, who was Miss West Virginia USA in 2009, enjoys the outdoors in her free time. She is recently engaged and hopes to use her winnings to pay for her wedding.

She tried out to be a contestant at a Wheelmobile event in Charleston.

"Wheel of Fortune" airs at 7 p.m. weeknights on WSAZ-TV.
