Meeting rescheduled for Nov. 6 election

HUNTINGTON -- Next week's general election has forced the Highlawn Neighborhood Association to move its monthly meeting to Thursday, Nov. 8.

The association will meet at 7 p.m. at Community of Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3rd Avenue and 28th Street. Association members will discuss a proposed rezoning of the St. Mary's Medical Center campus and a proposed beautification project at the hospital.

Autism workshop to focus on music therapy

Autism training workshop is Nov. 9

HUNTINGTON -- The West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University will host a lecture and workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, on music therapy.

Board-certified music therapist Nancy M. Nornhold, a Marshall graduate with more than 30 years of experience, will discuss her techniques of developing social skills in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.

Participants will be introduced to music therapy and engage in hands-on experiences using singing, movement, instrument playing and music listening.

The workshop will take place in the Memorial Student Center Multipurpose Room. Those wanting to attend the free event are encouraged to register online at www.marshall.edu/atc/content/musictherapyworkshop.php by Wednesday, Nov. 7.
