2008 election calendar

Here are some key dates for the coming election year.

West Virginia

Jan. 14-26: Candidate filing for state and local offices.

April 22: Last day to register to vote for primary at county clerk's office. Last day to mail voter registration application.

May 13: Primary Election Day.

Oct. 14: Last day to register to vote at county clerk's office. Last day to mail voter registration application.

Nov. 4: General Election Day.

Ohio

Jan. 4: Candidacy declarations.

March 4: Primary Election

Oct. 9: Voter registration ends for General Election.

Nov. 4: General Election Day. Polls are open 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Kentucky

Nov. 7, 2007-Jan. 29, 2008: Candidate filing.

April 22-May 27: Registration books are closed (fourth Tuesday preceding through first Monday following primary)

May 2-19: Voter may make application to vote absentee in clerk's office at least 12 working days before primary

May 20: Primary Election Day. Polls open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Oct. 17 to Nov. 3: Voter may make application to vote absentee in clerk's office at least 12 working days preceding election

Nov. 4: General Election Day. Polls open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
