60th annual Rose Show set for Sept. 6
HUNTINGTON -- The Color Run isn't the only amazing splash of color happening in downtown Huntington on Saturday.
Folks who are over at the Chilifest in the afternoon will want to get a long, last look at summer as the Huntington Rose Society hosts its 60th annual Rose Show from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Central Christian Church's Fellowship Hall, located in the rear of 1202 5th Ave., Huntington. The show is free and open to the public to check out, and member and assistant treasurer Bill Dolen said the show is also open for anyone to enter a rose into the show. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. sharp Saturday.
Gary and Monica Rankin are the chairs for the show, which moved from the Huntington Mall several years ago to downtown.
Organized on Nov. 16, 1954, the Huntington Rose Society is a member of American Rose Society & Colonial District.
You can go online at http://www.huntingtonrosesociety.com for more info on the Rose Society. Single membership fee is $8 a year or $12 a year for a couple. Membership application form can be emailed to you or is available at all meetings.
