Ohio man dies in I-64 accident
CANNONSBURG, Ky. -- Authorities believe alcohol and speed contributed to a fatal vehicle crash early morning Friday.
Emergency dispatchers received word of the accident at 12:13 a.m. Friday. It happened in eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the 187-mile marker near Cannonsburg, Ky.
Investigators identified the deceased as Leron E. Harvey, 48, of South Point, Ohio. They believe his vehicle veered into the median, came back onto the roadway and flipped multiple times over approximately 800 feet, said Boyd County Sheriff Terry Keelin.
Harvey was wearing a seat belt, but the impact still partially ejected him from the vehicle.
Beer cans were among items found in the vehicle, Keelin said. Investigators believe he was traveling back from Lexington, Ky., when the crash occurred.
