Veterans ceremony Sunday in South Point
SOUTH POINT, Ohio -- Bronze plaques will be installed at the cannon site at the South Point boat ramp park during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.
Being honored are Mayor Bill Gaskin, Ray Hughes and Buel Collins, who was a prisoner of war during World War II.
The public is invited to attend. The boat ramp park is located at 2nd and Ferry streets.
Free brunch Sunday for area veterans
HUNTINGTON -- The American Legion Riders will serve a free brunch to Huntingon-area veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at American Legion Post 16, 1421 6th Ave., Huntington.
It is open to all veterans and their immediate families, though organizers are hoping the event will help the homeless veterans.

Veterans asked to complete survey
CHARLESTON -- Veterans and current military members are being asked to complete the 2012 West Virginia Military Survey, the state's main source of comprehensive information regarding work, education, family, retirement, health and access to benefit for service members.
More than 8,000 postcard invitations to participate in the survey were mailed in late September. Respondents may complete the survey online at http://www.wvmilitarysurvey.com or by calling 855-299-6605. Responses are confidential and the information will not be published or released in any form that would reveal an individual participant. Survey participants will be entered into a drawing for VISA cash gift card.
The survey is sponsored by members of the West Virginia Legislature.
