VFW Post 1064 offers free trip to WWII Memorial

October 10, 2008 @ 11:15 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1064, in partnership with an anonymous local business person, is offering to take World War II veterans to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, free of charge.

The two-day, all-expenses-paid trip is scheduled for Nov. 5 and 6 and is open to World War II veterans from Cabell and Wayne counties.

The group will set off at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, from the VFW at 920 7th Ave. They'll take a bus to Washington and spend the night in a hotel. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the group will head over to the memorial before making the bus trip back to Huntington that night.

It's the second time the trip is being offered. A group of veterans took the same trip in May.

For more information or to sign up for the trip, contact Scott King of the VFW at 304-544-2316.
