Veterans recognized for service at CSX Military Appreciation Day
HUNTINGTON -- Many veterans were recognized during the 4th annual CSX Military Appreciation Day in Huntington on Wednesday.
The group gathered at the CSX Huntington Locomotive Shop's picnic area and shelter at 22nd Street and 6th Avenue.
The event was held as an effort by CSX to show their appreciation for their military veterans, including CSX retirees.
The special ceremony included music, prayer, recognition of veterans and flag retirement service. Don Young, VFW state adjutant and quartermaster, was the event's guest speaker.
Other upcoming Veterans Day events include:
10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day parade and ceremony at 14th Street West. Parade will continue east along Memorial Boulevard to the Memorial Arch. 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, assembly at South Point High School in honor of all veterans. The school is inviting all veterans and those currently serving along with their spouses to attend. Refreshments will be served.
