Cartmill elected president of state organization
HUNTINGTON -- Cabell County Commission President Nancy Cartmill was named president of the County Commissioners' Association of West Virginia at its annual meeting earlier this month in Huntington.
Cartmill previously served as mayor of Barboursville, the president of the West Virginia Municipal League and is currently the executive director of the West Virginia Assisted Living Association.
"I believe a unified effort of our association will help us enact real change for our citizens and I look forward to working with commissioners from around the state to make a difference in the lives of those we serve," Cartmill said in a news release from the association.
Boone County Commissioner Mickey Brown was elected as CCAWV's vice president.
In addition to being the hub between county governments, the West Virginia County Commissioners' Association promotes public awareness of county government, coordinates training opportunities for county commissioners and lobbies for legislation to benefit county residents.
As president of the association, Cartmill will spearhead efforts in Charleston along with Vivian Parsons, director of the association, to work with legislators on county-related issues.
"Having served the past two years as our association's vice president and legislative chairwoman, Nancy has shown she is well equipped to take on the challenge of being our president," Parsons said.
"I look forward to working with her and Mickey to pursue the vision of positive change for county citizens through the efforts of a strong, united association."
