Chinese MU students raising funds for earthquake victims
HUNTINGTON -- The Chinese students and scholars association at Marshall University have joined in an effort by Save the Children to help victims of the May 12 earthquake in China.
The 7.9 quake hit central China leaving nearly 35,000 dead, according to The Associated Press. Another 9,500 remained buried and more than 29,000 were missing, the AP reported.
The Marshall group, along with other college groups, are asking for cash donations. The target is to raise $50,000.
Donations can be made out to "Save the Children/Earthquakes Relief" with the routing-account number "051900366-779194547" in Memo. Checks can be mailed to the following address directly: JP Morgan Chase Bank, 1000 5th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701.
