Diesel, oil leak closes portion of I-64
HUNTINGTON -- One lane of a busy stretch of I-64 was closed for about two hours Wednesday evening as crews cleared a diesel and oil leak in the area.
The leak was reported to Cabell County 911 dispatchers at about 6:20 p.m. The driver of a tractor-trailer that had broken down told dispatchers he was repairing the vehicle when a hose came loose, spilling fuel and oil into the right lane of I-64 eastbound, near the East Mall Road exit.
First responders with the Barboursville Police Department responded to the scene, and crews with the Department of Highways also responded to the scene to clear the materials from the roadway, according to dispatcher reports. West Virginia State Police troopers provided traffic control.
The road was completely open by 8:45 p.m., and no one was injured as a result of the leak.
