$1,000 reward offered in Keith-Albee graffiti case
HUNTINGTON -- After hearing how the front of the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center on 4th Avenue in Huntington was vandalized with spray paint last week, the community has stepped up to lessen the cleanup costs.
David Tyson, co-president of the nonprofit Keith-Albee Foundation, said the city of Huntington has donated the chemicals necessary to remove the graffiti. Tyson said he's also been receiving calls from graffiti removal companies and the public concerned about the damage to the historic front.
The Greene Ketchum law firm in Huntington also is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons involved in the graffiti on the Keith-Albee.
"This is more than putting up a 'tag' in an alley," said Paul Farrell Jr. of Greene Ketchum. "The community has put so much into the Keith-Albee and to see someone spray paint it with a tag is just infuriating."
The graffiti, colored in blue and outlined in black, says "Drop Beats" and is located more than 20 feet above the ground and next to the blinking lights and sign on the front. Tyson said in the Tuesday edition of The Herald-Dispatch that the foundation was going to have to spend money it didn't have to remove the paint.
Anyone with information regarding the graffiti is asked to call the Huntington Police Department detective's bureau at 304-696-4420.
To make a donation to the foundation for graffiti removal, send checks to The Keith-Albee Foundation, in care of David Tyson, PO Box 1096, Huntington, WV 25714.
