Two men face felony charges after drug arrests
HUNTINGTON -- Two men charged with trafficking OxyContin now face felony charges, according to criminal complaints filed this week in Huntington. The arrest led to the confiscation of 194 OxyContin pills.
Those charged are Dontez Rashawn Hudson, 24, and Jamel Chawlone Brown, 28. Both were arrested last week and initially detained at the Western Regional Jail.
The criminal complaint states a police officer watched Hudson participate in several hand-to-hand transactions and leave in a vehicle Nov. 7 in the 2500 block of 9th Avenue in Huntington.
Officers then stopped Hudson's vehicle and found a bag inside. It contained 100 OxyContin pills. Another 14 OxyContin pills were located in Hudson's coat pocket, the complaint states.
Hudson admitted to owning the pills and trafficking the drug in a statement to police, according to the complaint. The statement followed police advising Hudson of his rights.
The criminal complaint states Brown arrived at an informant's apartment Nov. 5 to sell pills. His arrest followed and so did a search. Officers found 80 OxyContin pills in his pants pocket and a loaded .22 caliber pistol in his vehicle. The gun's serial number was obliterated.
Charges against both suspects were filed by the Huntington Police Department and the Huntingtion Violent Crime Drug Task Force.
