United Way to host workshop for agencies seeking funds

Jan. 02, 2014 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- United Way of the River Cities will conduct a workshop at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, for organizations interested in applying for funding.

The workshop will be at the United Way office at 820 Madison Ave., Huntington, across from the DMV. The session is open to health and human service nonprofits that provide services in one or more of the following counties: Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio.

The workshop is not mandatory but is strongly recommended for agencies interested in applying for funding. The session will include a review of the United Way's online application, the funding process, tips for developing a competitive grant and deadlines.

Grant applications must address one of the issues addressed by United Way's funding. A list of those issues can be found at http://unitedwayrivercities.org/docs/criticalissues_outcomes_2013.pdf.

Seating is limited. If RSVPs for the event exceed seating capacity, a second workshop will be offered. To register for the workshop or for more information, contact Laura Gilliam at 304-523-8929, ext. 104 or laura.gilliam@unitedwayrivercities.org.
