Police investigating shooting at residence
HUNTINGTON -- Investigators have little information about an early morning shooting in Huntington.
The Huntington Police Department identified the victim as Christopher A. Jones, 25, according to a press release issued by Lt. John Williams.
The press release described Jones, of Huntington, as recovering at a local hospital.
Dispatchers received word of the shooting at 7:28 a.m. Thursday. It happened inside of a residence in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue.
The man appeared to be conscious and talking on a cellphone as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance. Indications were the man had multiple wounds, however it was unclear how many of those were inflicted by gunshots. Police described his injuries as non life-threatening.
Sherri Hughes, a neighbor, found the victim with blood coming from his head. She said the victim claimed someone came into the house and shot at him.
"I just heard a lot of screaming and commotion," she said.
Police cordoned off 2000 block of 11th Avenue until a crime scene unit could survey the area for potential evidence.
Investigators had not identified the gunman as of 11:20 a.m. Thursday.
