Bully-free Halloween at the mall

BARBOURSVILLE -- The Huntington Mall has throughout October had a variety of events focused on National Bully Awareness Month.

The mall will host a "Bully Free Trick or Treat" on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

There will be a special visit from Captain McFinn and Coral Rose, characters from the Captain McFinn series that involves deterring bullying behavior among children in the age group of Pre-K to second-grade.

Registration for the Bully Free event will begin in Center Court at 5 p.m. The event is free event and many of the mall's stores, as part of the Malls Retailers Unite Against Bullying Behavior, will be providing treats.

Decorating the stage at the court will be the pumpkins from the mall pumpkin decorating contest. Customers have the opportunity to vote for their favorite store's pumpkin. The pumpkins are currently located throughout the mall at the soft seating areas near Sears, Macy's and JCPenney. The winning pumpkin will be announced on Halloween on the Huntington Mall's Facebook page and a customer winner will be announced at the Trick or Treat event at 7:30 p.m. and will win a $25 Huntington Mall gift card.

The Huntington Mall McDonalds located on the mall complex will also host an event the next night from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring Ronald McDonald, the West Virginia Army National Guard, Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department and others.
