Grant proposals sought for Big Cover Up
HUNTINGTON -- United Way of the River Cities is accepting grant proposals from area high school groups for its Big Cover Up youth project.
High school groups can apply for funds to help purchase warm winter clothing, such as coats, hats, gloves, shoes and socks, for elementary or middle school students. The groups must match United Way funds through fundraising efforts of their own and/or discounts or in-kind contributions. Each group must have a faculty sponsor but be youth-led.
Applications are available by calling the United Way office at 304-523-8929, ext. 104, or by emailing email@example.com. Grant applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
More than 350 students participated in the 2012 Big Cover Up, helping more than 180 elementary and middle school students. This is the 14th year the United Way has provided such funding.
