Two charged with using stolen debit card
HUNTINGTON -- Two men were arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly trying to use a debit card that had been stolen from a vehicle amid a string of car break-ins in the East and West Pea Ridge area.
Cabell County Sheriff's deputies arrested Nicholas Black, 21, of Huntington and Anthony D. Presley, 24, of Huntington around 4:30 p.m. Friday on charges of fraudulent use of an access device and possession of a controlled substance.
Lt. Robert Copley said the card, which the men tried to use at a gas station, was taken from a victim of the recent string of car break-ins in the East and West Pea Ridge area. An investigation into the incident may connect the suspect to the vehicle intrusions.
Officers arrested Black and Presley at a residence on the 4700 block of Logan Street. Upon searching the suspects, officers also found three grams of marijuana and a Loritab pill on Presley's person and four Valium pills on Black's person, according to the report.
The suspects waived Miranda rights and admitted to using the card at several locations.
The owner of the vehicle the suspects were driving said that she was unaware that the suspects had taken her vehicle.
Presley was charged with two counts of fraud and related activity in connection with access devices and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $16,000.
Black was charged with two counts of fraud and related activity in connection with access devices and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Both were lodged in the Western Regional Jail Facility.
