August 19, 2008 @ 11:45 PM

CHARLESTON -- Thundering Herd alumni, fans and friends have an opportunity to gather at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston today to celebrate Marshall University athletics during the 11th Annual Paint the Capital City Green event.

The tailgate starts at 6 p.m., and the formal program begins at 7:15 p.m.

It's the university's largest indoor pep rally and features a tailgate spread, with entertainment by Marco and the cheerleading squad, and music from members of the Marshall University Marching Thunder.

Tickets are $35, and those who had purchased tickets by Friday will be eligible for a drawing for two tickets to the upcoming Friends of Coal Bowl in Morgantown, as well as other prizes and giveaways.

Fans can meet head football head coach Mark Snyder, along with key players and other members of the coaching staff.

The event is sponsored by Friends of Coal and hosted by the Big Green Scholarship Foundation, the Marshall University Alumni Association, the Greater Kanawha Valley Alumni Club and the Charleston Quarterback Club. Event proceeds benefit the Big Green Scholarship Foundation and the Marshall University Alumni Association.
