Area gamers invited to LAN party at ACTC
ASHLAND, Ky. -- Computer-gamers age 16 and older are invited to a "Back-to-School LAN Party" from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Ashland Community and Technical College. It will be on the third floor of the Goodpaster Building at the College Drive Campus.
The party is a gathering for people to play networked computer games. LAN stands for Local Area Network, and about 60 people attended ACTC's first LAN party, organized last spring by ACTC and Boyd County High School information technology students.
"Information technology, networking and video games seem to go hand-in-hand, and our technology-minded students tend to gravitate to these games for their entertainment," Chris Boggs, an assistant professor of Information Technology at ACTC, said in a press release. "We encourage people to come to the LAN party for a chance to interact with others who share their interest in computer technology and the latest games."
The party will include information on Fast Track programs in Cisco and Microsoft networking, as well as other Information Technology options.
Participants must be registered to attend and can do so at www.actclanparty.com. For more information, contact Boggs at christopher.boggs@kctcs.edu or 606-326-2482.
