Police investigate armed robbery in Ironton
IRONTON -- An armed robbery in Ironton has police hoping to identify a suspect, according to Police Chief Jim Carey.
The incident happened about 10:47 p.m. Monday at the Rich Oil gasoline station. It was located at 1717 Liberty Ave.
Carey said the store's clerk told police a man ran into her store. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and a dust mask. She spotted a firearm, and the man demanded money.
The assailant fled with an undetermined amount of cash. He ran in front of a car as he crossed a road and fled between to nearby houses.
Carey said it was the first armed robbery in some time to occur within his city. Police have not linked the incident to any other crimes.
No injuries were reported.
