Tri-State well represented at Democratic Convention

HUNTINGTON -- Instead of seeing some of the most beautiful sights in Colorado, three delegates from Cabell County representing West Virginia are stuck inside the Pepsi Center in Denver for the Democratic National Convention.
And they couldn't be happier.
Cory Dennison, Cabell delegate in the 3rd Congressional District, said he's honored to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience that brings Democrats from around the country together. Dennison said the West Virginia delegation has met with delegations from other states, including Ohio and Kentucky, to talk about issues important to their regions.
"We know what's important to the West Virginia delegation, but it's interesting to find out what's important to delegations in California and Missouri and why they became Democrats," Dennison said. "It's amazing having this many Democrats under the same roof discussing issues that are unifying the party and moving it forward."
Since the convention began, Dennison said there have been several special moments that he will remember forever. One moment occurred when Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton was formally nominated to be the Democratic Party's candidate for president then released her delegates Wednesday. Clinton also announced she signed her ballot for Obama.
"I've heard a lot of Hillary Clinton speeches but the speech she gave (at the convention) was the best speech she ever gave," Dennison said. "It unified the party and brought everybody together."
Third Congressional District delegate Betty Cleckley and at-large delegate Sue Hanshaw represent Cabell County's two other delegates at the convention.
