Police Blotter: Man charged with felony after allegedly passing counterfeit check

Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:

Thomas Shaw Jr., 63, was charged with felony fraudulent schemes and two misdemeanor counts of passing worthless checks.

The arrest came after a man allegedly passed a counterfeit check for $3,000 at the Chase Bank on the 1000 block of 5th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT: Lapercy D. Allen was arrested and incarcerated at the Western Regional Jail at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Allen, 28, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, along with misdemeanor drug possession and obstruction. His bond was $48,200.

BURGLARY: A resident on the 600 block of 10th Avenue reported Tuesday afternoon that her residence was forcibly broken into through a side door. She reported several items stolen including a 52-inch TV, photo printer, DVD player and rims and tires.

The stolen items totaled about $2,750.

STOLEN AUTO: A resident on the 600 block of 31st Street reported his teal green 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan was stolen from the rear of his residence Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The victim stated the vehicle did not have a registration plate or a working battery.

LARCENY: The West Virginia Department of Highways reported a laptop computer stolen from their facility located on the 1000 block of 9th Street West. The agency reported the laptop was stolen sometime between April 1 and Tuesday morning. The laptop was valued at $1,500.

Reports from the Western Regional Jail listed the following bookings:

Donald Simkins, 45, was incarcerated at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony robbery. His bond was $10,000.

Stephen Carl Reed, 25, was incarcerated at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony grand larceny and seven misdemeanor counts of failing to appear in court. No bond amount was available.

Peter Alexander Higginbotham, 19, and Joshua Wayne Tucker, 23, were incarcerated at 3:15 p.m. Authorities in Mason County charged both men with felony breaking and entering. Their bond was $10,000.
