Four men indicted in recent cocaine bust
HUNTINGTON -- A federal grand jury has indicted four men arrested at a recent drug raid, where authorities located at least 200 grams of cocaine and 270 OxyContin pills in a kitchen dishwasher.
Those indicted were James "J.T." Tubbs, 35; Leon "L" McReynolds, 35; Deshawn Devon Sloan, 25; and Sterlyn "Little World" Hewlett, 25. All lived in Huntington. Their indictments were signed this week by a grand jury meeting in Huntington.
The men were arrested Aug. 8 at a house along the 900 block of 11th Avenue, but they were named in separate indictments.
Initial charges linked Tubbs to the Aug. 8 drug seizure. This week's three-count indictment charges Tubbs with maintaining and controlling the residence to store cocaine and oxycodone. The additional counts charge him with possessing with the intent to distribute oxycodone and at least 500 grams of cocaine.
A jury found Tubbs innocent of a federal crack cocaine charge in July 2006. He was caring for five children and expecting a sixth at that time.
The U.S. Attorney's Office lists Tubbs and McReynolds as residing at 932 11th Ave. McReynolds' six-count indictment charges him with distributing crack cocaine on six occasions between April 29 and July 29, 2008.
A one-count indictment charges Sloan with distributing crack cocaine on Feb. 8, 2006.
Hewlett was named in a one-count indictment charging him with distributing crack cocaine on Jan. 31, 2008.
The Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force investigated the case, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
