Local children learn about fire prevention

Oct. 14, 2013 @ 12:15 AM

Children at Playmates Child Development Centers in Huntington and Lavalette celebrated Fire Prevention Week last week by learning first hand from firefighters.

Members of the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department visited students at the Lavalette Playmates location. Children got to look in a fire truck and listen to firemen talk about how to prevent fires and to not be afraid if a fireman/woman rescue them during a fire.

Students at the Playmates Huntington location toured the Huntington Fire Department's Sentinel Station. They talked to firefighters and learned about some of the clothing and equipment used in fighting fires.
