Ironton High School to host band contest

IRONTON — Ironton High School is hosting the Buckeye Classic band contest Saturday at Tanks Memorial Stadium in Ironton.

Seventeen bands and more than 1,000 band members from Ohio and West Virginia are participating in the 27th year of the band festival.

Portsmouth, River Valley, Symmes Valley, Green, Federal Hocking, Portsmouth West, Wellston, Zane Trace, Northwest, Rock Hill, Minford, Dawson-Bryant, Huntington, Chesapeake, Spring Valley and South Point bands are scheduled to compete.

The Million Dollar Marching Band from Ironton will perform at 9:45 p.m. The band festival begins at 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5.
