2 students arrested for marijuana
The following information was provided by the Marshall University Police Department:
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: Two students, ages 18 and 19, were cited for possession of marijuana, less than 15 grams, after an officer found them and two others inside a vehicle in the south student parking lot at 10:28 pm. Oct. 4. The officer had noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting a probable cause search that yielded two pipes, a grinder and marijuana.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A Marshall University logo was stolen from outside the Henderson Center sometime late on Oct. 4 to early on Oct. 5. It is valued at $400.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: An employee discovered a concrete bench outside the Memorial Student Center had been broken between 7 and 7:45 a.m. Friday.
PETIT LARCENY: A student reported that sometime between 2 and 2:10 p.m. Friday, someone stole his wallet from a cubby near court 1 at the Recreation Center.
PUBLIC INTOXICATION: Officers were alerted to a fight between a man and a woman in the stadium parking lot at 7:20 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman, both of whom displayed characteristics of intoxication, yelling. The man became boisterous and neither would comply with officers' commands to comply.
Five officers had to subdue the man to get handcuffs on him, with the suspect ripping one of the officer's uniforms. He was charged with misdemeanor counts of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, obstructing and destruction of property. The woman was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstruction.
UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION: An 18-year-old woman was cited for underage consumption after police received a report of an intoxicated female being carried into the lobby of Holderby Hall just before 3 a.m. Sunday.
LARCENY: Sometime between Friday and Monday, someone stole boxes of soda mix from a concession stand at the Henderson Center.
