Two hospitalized in head-on collision
HUNTINGTON -- Two women were taken to a local hospital after being involved in a head-on collision on I-64 Thursday evening.
A woman driving a Toyota Echo took a wrong turn and began traveling westbound onto the 5th Street eastbound exit ramp and onto the interstate said Huntington Police Officer A. Rosario. The woman traveled westbound in the eastbound lane for about 200 yards before her vehicle struck a Ford Mustang traveling westbound head-on.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital with what Rosario said were non-life threatening injuries.
He said it appeared the driver of the Echo just became confused when attempting to access the interstate.
The interstate was closed for about an hour following the accident.
