Rahall to speak to AARP
HUNTINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) will speak to the Huntington Area Chapter of the American Association of Retired People on Monday, Oct. 8.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the St. Mary's Conference Center on 5th Avenue.
The congressman will speak about Medicare and Social Security and how Washington is dealing with those issues of concern to seniors.
The meeting marks an important anniversary for the area AARP chapter, said President Dolores Rozzi, who helped organize the local group five years ago with just four other people. Rahall spoke at the group's first event, which was attended by about 100 people and helped build interest in the chapter.
Today, the Huntington-area chapter has more than 300 members, is the largest local chapter in West Virginia and one of the largest in the United States, Rozzi said.
