New artwork unveiled at Barnett Center
HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Museum of Art and Youth United unveiled the newest pieces of art produced by dozens of teens from around the city.
Among them are a mosaic and a sculpture at the Barnett Center, which houses the Weed and Seed program. The projects, "Reclaiming the Urban Landscape," was done by various students from Huntington Middle and Huntington High schools, said Weed and Seed coordinator Tim White.
"It's an opportunity for these kids to create a work of art that will stand a long, long time," White said.
The sculpture, he said, was made with recycled materials and stands near the garden, he said. White described it as working wind chime.
Those who participated in the project were Krissy Keith, Naja Felder, Jasmine Felder, Barry Westmoreland, Khadejah Stubblefield, Jewel Webb, Jonathan Riner, Jasmine Riner, Billie Williams, Shakasia Wolfolk, Jazzy Johnson, China Markum and J'lisa Kelly. Artists Mark Earnhart and Libby Meathe coordinated the project.
