Manchin endorsed by state pro-life organization

MORGANTOWN -- The West Virginians for Life Political Action Committee, the state pro-life organization, has endorsed Gov. Joe Manchin for re-election.

WVFL is affiliated with the National Right to Life Committee.

WVFL Executive Director Brian Louk said in a prepared release, "During his many years as a legislator both in the House and the Senate, Joe Manchin was known as a staunch supporter of the pro-life movement with an excellent voting record on pro-life issues."

He added, "As Governor, Joe Manchin supported and signed the Unborn Victims of Violence Act and has made sure his appointees to the court system and the legislature has been fair-minded individuals."

The Huntington Area League of Women Voters and the Southside Neighborhood Association are sponsoring a Candidates' Meeting for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., at the Junior League Community Center, 617 Ninth Ave.

Candidates for Huntington mayor and council will be there to answer questions.

The League, along with the Junior League of Huntington and the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women, will also sponsor a Candidates' Meeting at the Junior League Community Center on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. where candidates for the West Virginia Legislature and Cabell County Commission and sheriff will be there to answer questions.
