Silver Alert issued for missing local woman
HUNTINGTON — A Silver Alert has been issued for a Huntington woman who was reported missing Friday.
The family of Joan Gardner, 84, reported her missing from her home in the south Queens Court area of Huntington at about 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, Huntington Police Lt. John Williams said in a press release Saturday morning.
A relative reported her missing after members of her family had tried to contact Gardner throughout the day Friday with no success, Williams said. The relative told police that Gardner recently has had some bouts of confusion.
He said relatives visited Gardner’s home, but she was not there.
Gardner’s vehicle, a 1998 gold Nissan Altima was not at her home. The car has West Virginia tags, and the number on the license plate is OK-1612.
Gardner is a white female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, who weighs about 130 pounds. She has gray hair and brown eyes.
Her relatives believe she may have traveled toward Ashland, where her son lives, Williams said.
