Spinners and Newfield to perform at inaugural ball
CHARLESTON -- R&B group The Spinners and country music star Heidi Newfield will perform at the Gov. Joe Manchin's Inaugural Ball on Monday, Jan. 19, according to a release from the Manchin Inaugural Committee.
The Spinners, a popular R&B group that attained 12 gold records and six Grammy nominations with hits appearing on top of both the Pop and R&B charts, including "Rubberband Man," "I'll Be Around," "Working My Way Back to You" and "Cupid." Country music star Heidi Newfield, signer of the hit song "Johnny and June," also will perform.
Other bands and artists performing during the Inaugural Ball include: The Davisson Brothers, Taylor Made, Alli Gillis, Travis Riddle, Tom Watt: The Buffett Man, Bob Thompson, JR Farley Band and Big Planet Soul.
Tickets for the ball are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling the Charleston Civic Center box office at 304-345-7469. Any member of the public can purchase a ticket through the Civic Center. Individuals do not need an invitation to obtain a ticket.
All other inaugural events are free and open to the public.
