Prescribed burn planned at Wayne National Forest

IRONTON -- The USDA Forest Service's Wayne National Forest, Ironton Ranger District, is planning prescribed burning operations within the next several weeks. The district anticipated conditions may be favorable for burning from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, according to a news release.

Sgt. Thomas Matthew Thomas, a member of the U.S. Army's 75th Ranger Regiment, who died Nov. 17, 2005, in Iraq, was among four members of the military honored Saturday, Sept. 27, by Frontier Communications. He is the son of Brenda Short Thomas, a native of Logan County, W.Va., and Maj. (Retired) Thomas E. Thomas of Murray City, Ohio. Some information was incorrect in a story in the Sept. 27 edition of The Herald-Dispatch.
