Huntington voters decided on mayor
In the Nov. 18 Sunday edition of The Herald-Dispatch, the headline story was "Mayor-elect abandons change of goverment form." Really? Despite what the article may mention, this past summer, Mr. Williams stated the people of Huntington will have a choice this fall to decide what form of city government they want -- a city manager or strong mayor form of goverment. The people of Huntington voted and decided.
Please tell me again, how important it is to vote? Tell me again how democracy works. I am confused.
Dictators' support of Obama was odd
In Milt Hankins' recent article, "Politics indeed makes for strange bedfellows," he stated that he was baffled by the number of evangelicals who supported Mr. Romney and he tried his best to dissuade voters by showing how Mormonism conflicts with evangelical Christianity.
I have a question for Mr. Hankins to seriously ponder. Shouldn't it baffle you more as to why a professing Christian (you) would support the same man who is supported by three modern-day Communist dictators? You do know that Chavez, Castro and Putin supported Mr. Obama's re-election bid?
Doesn't it seem strange to you that three national leaders who have nothing whatsoever to do with God supported the same man you support and claim is a born-again Christian?
Hankins should study Bible closer
Milt Hankins is a "former minister" who lives in Ashland who writes a column in The Herald-Dispatch who is always spouting the wrong things about the Bible. It is high time that he read the Bible and finds out just what it has to say about salvation.
Anyone who knows the Bible says plainly if you are "born again," you are a child of God. However, it also says that to deny his word, he will also deny you. His word says plainly that we are to believe and obey his word.
Hankins stated that Obama is a born again person. How can you believe that homosexuality is OK with God and abortion is OK with God and be a born again Christian? I'm glad that he is a former pastor, for I couldn't set under him for one so-called sermon. He needs to study the word before he spouts about it.
