It's past time to fix city street flooding
This is a question for the city about the high water on 5th Avenue and 3rd Avenue.
Why hasn't the city of Huntington had a competent person to look into this matter? I am a senior citizen, and this has been going on since I was a child!
Thanks to sponsors of Hot Dog Festival
This year's Hot Dog Festival was the best ever!
Thanks to John Mandt Jr. and the Stewart's family and Kym York-Blake and the Clear Channel group for organizing this event.
'Price of Justice' is an eye-opening read
I started reading a book about 7 in the evening and read until 3 in the morning. I finished it later at 2 in the afternoon and recommend it to every West Virginian, young or old. It's titled "The Price of Justice" by Laurence Learner. It's not a novel but it reads like one, and on the book jacket John Grisham is quoted as saying, "I wish I'd written this."
It's about two lawyers who take on the Hugh Caperton- Don Blankenship lawsuit and the ramifications of that struggle, going all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and Brent Benjamin's refusal to recuse himself from the West Virginia Supreme Court appeal. It includes the Warren McGraw political campaign and the loss of his seat on the W.Va. Supreme Court when the state was inundated with political ads accusing McGraw of supporting release of a known sex offender.
The disastrous Upper Big Branch Mine explosion enters in. Some of the heroes are still around, some of the villains are still in high places.
If you live in this state and ever vote or ever plan to, do yourself a favor and read this book this summer!
