Cheney wrong to criticize Obama

Wasn't it Dick Cheney who told us that it was unpatriotic and dangerous to criticize the president during a time of war? Yet here I sit, watching the former vice president tear down our president and our government, looking down on the nation defended so bravely by so many.

The essence of terrorism is fear, and Cheney still pedals it as if he were the enemy and not al-Qaida. I for one refuse to give up my freedom and values as an American out of fear of terrorism. Those who want an America without American values should consider relocating.

Paul Turman best choice for mayor

My grandfather, Paul Turman, can be described in many ways: a faithful follower of Christ; a hard-worker; a passionate Marshall athletic fan; an honest and caring person; and last but not least, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He has worked hard to be the mayor of Barboursville for the past eight years. He has helped the city with a variety of needs that have needed the attention. He is bringing a great atmosphere to the Barboursville Park this summer with the soccer tournament that will be held in July. He has also helped make our village the best village in West Virginia. When people see him, they are glad to know that the mayor of Barboursville cares about their needs and know that if it is within reasonable terms and it can be done, he will strive his hardest to accomplish it.

I cannot imagine a better person who is more qualified than him to run Barboursville the way it needs to be run. Any other person will not keep our village up to the standards that it is known for. A mayor is a person who is willing to give all the time and energy into making a city, village or town a better and safer place for all the people who live there.

That man is my grandfather Paul Turman Sr. Please go out and make sure that you vote for the right choice on June 2.
