Animal shelter in dire need of funds, staff, volunteers
Thank you to the writer of the recent letter calling our attention to the situation at the Huntington-Cabell-Wayne Animal Control Shelter. Absolutely, more staff and money are needed to care for the helpless animals there. Thank you for your suggestions.
Recently, my husband and I stopped by thinking that we might take a stray kitten there. We had never seen the facilities. We first went to see the cats. A very nice lady who said that they were her "children" was taking good care of them. But how crowded the facilities were and what stench!
I was glad to learn that the only animals put down at the shelter were those that were sick or wild. Our guide had scratches on her hands and wrists from one of those cats. I'm sure if more citizens could see the situation there, many would be glad to give time and/or money.
My husband said that we could not leave the stray kitten there. Little Victories had no room. Finally, we were fortunate, and a loving family was glad to adopt the calico cat.

Obama has not stood for Christian principles
This is in response to Milt Hankins on Oct. 26. I don't understand people who claim to be one thing, but truly are another. You claim to be a retired theologian and minister, but what you write shows you know very little about the Bible.
You stated how could anyone who claims to be a Christian vote for a Mormon. I don't believe the Mormon religion, but answer this: How can people who claim to be Christians vote for a man (Obama) that says he is a Christian but is pro-gay, pro-abortion, sides with Muslims and even has visited all their countries (except Israel) and apologized for the United States.
He has shunned the country of Israel (God's People) more than once since being in office and doesn't show support for them now.
In another article, you stated that the Bible is unclear on homosexuality. My Bible says it is an abomination. Milt, have you ever read in the Bible about Sodom and Gomorrah?
Please next time you write an article, do some research and stop embarrassing yourself. You do not know the Bible, nor has Obama stood for Christian principles.
