Americans must return to God

A nation's destiny is not determined by its armed forced or material resources. Neither is it empowered by its political philosophy or intellectual achievements. God's Word reveals and the records of history prove that it is not by our power, but by God's power and mercy that nations survive over time. The destiny of any nation is determined by the spiritual life of its people.

Every nation has had an opportunity to accept the Word of God and follow His ways, to worship Him and to do His will. If the offer is accepted, that nation will be blessed. However, if a nation chooses to reject Him, refuses to worship and follow Him and establish its own foundation, it will eventually be destroyed.

What will be America's destiny when it is no longer "one nation under God"? We've pushed God out of government, public education and the home. Pushed out of the home by means of television, Internet and now Facebook to take away from time spent in God's book. We can't mention God's name in public, unless it's in the form of profanity, because it's violating someone's rights. There's something seriously wrong with this whole picture. The mentality and morality of our nation has become sickening and disgusting. I can't help but think that God has to be about ready to spew us out of His mouth.

If we don't make a 180-degree turn back to God, we will be like a ship in a storm, headed for shore without a lighthouse.

We the people are the ones responsible to humble ourselves, pray, call upon God and repent, if we do not want to be a bad memory on the pages of history.

2nd Amendment guarantees others

As a native West Virginian, I am concerned. Concerned about the way our liberties and constitutional rights are being threatened and undermined. Right now as I write this letter to the editor, there are members of Congress trying to infringe on our Bill of Rights.

Using the aftermath of heinous mass murders, they are attacking your Second Amendment rights. Laws are already in place (without being enforced) dealing with crimes against law-abiding citizens. Now the career politicians are trying to enact new laws banning certain types of weapons. Mostly using hunting as a reference for their cause. It is (in my opinion) not intended for hunting but for protection of life, property and the threat of enemies, both foreign and domestic.

I urge every patriotic citizen to contact your political representatives and let them know your stand on this. I am a firm believer that without the Second Amendment, you are guaranteed no others.
