Area losing two great clergymen

I have recently learned that our community is losing two wonderful clergymen -- one whose children I taught, the other whose props I have provided. Both gentlemen have been valuable members of the community and apparently are being ripped out and away from their home, their jobs and all of us who love them and depend on them for their guidance and their many contributions of their talents and support, to say nothing of what it must do to them to have built up their congregations, made friends and nurtured family and followers.

With all due respect to the authorities who make the decision to move these people like pawns on a chess board, this is not a wise move.

I know my opinion won't change this crazy decision, but I want to wish Tim Holloran of Crossroads United Methodist Church and Father Eric of Sacred Heart the very best of luck and a fond farewell.

It's time the public demanded change

You know what I am completely fed up with when it comes to this country? The people -- we American citizens -- only wanting free government help or handouts. Wow, nearly $4 for fuel and having to try to keep up with everyone else who has material junk.

Years ago "we the people" wouldn't stand to be cheated to make the rich happy. We've lost our pride to work hard and earn a living along with our spines to stand up and make our elected officials do the jobs they are elected to perform for us, not themselves and special interests groups.

We need to rebound together and take our country back and tell the rest of the world that we do not need them. Why? Because we are Americans -- strong, fearless, hard-working and caring for one another. So let's get up on our feet and do what we know is right to do and get going again.

We control our fates, not Washington, D.C., or the United Nations.

It's God's job to judge, not ours

OK, so we all don't agree. The world is full of confusion and differing opinions. There are certain things that others do that I hate, but I don't hate them, unless of course they are just pure evil. Whether you are talking about Democrat or Republican, gay or straight, rich or poor, black or white or whatever, we should pray for each other, not hate each other. We should not cast stones.

Yes, we can feel very strongly about something and we should be bold, but we should make righteous and informed decisions. Judgment is God's job, not ours, but if you are going to judge, do it based on character, and use common sense. Use God's word as your guide. There are really only two forces at work in this world, and they cross all lines: good and evil. Which one will you choose?
